Examples of Documentary Work Quality and Relevant Content

We are submitting five project examples that represent our overall production quality, our interview abilities, visual quality, and editing/pacing/music, and overall story quality.

References from past project clients or partners are available on request.

High Performance Building Series

Two 30-minute videos constructed with case histories; produced in partnership with the Rocky Mountain Institute.  High Performance Building makes the case for green building; High Performance by Integrated Design looks at process to maximize green building value.

***We include these two examples specifically because of the subject matter and the video structure and design that combines a series of short videos into a longer video. They also demonstrate the quality of our work – interviews and strong visual elements.

High Performance Building: Perspective and Practice

Combines short stories from Oregon Health Sciences, Fossil Ridge High School, Toyota, Starbucks, San Francisco Federal Building and others with comments making the case for green building from thought leaders including Majora Carter (urban revitalization strategist), Rob Walton (WalMart) George Pataki (former Governor of NY), Jonathan Rose (Rose Companies), Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia), James Woolsey (Booz Allen, former CIA Director), and others.

High Performance by Integrative Design

Combines the integrative design process with short stories from the Empire State Building retrofit, the Las Vegas Desert Living Center, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Willow School and the Chicago Botanic Gardens.

It’s about…Energy

Produced for Interfaith Works, a non-profit that supports environmental stewardship in faith-based organizations by providing consulting, energy audits, building retrofits, energy saving technologies, and environmental education.  Primarily shot in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA.

***While this is an older work that does not reflect our current visual style, it is included because it is about an organization providing grants to improve building energy efficiencies; includes a number of inner-city churches and schools. It also demonstrates our ability to carry stories with real-people interviews.

Futures Rising

Produced for Montgomery County Community College (PA) as a primary communication tool supporting a capital fundraising program focused on student scholarships.  The video won a Gold Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.  It interweaves the stories of a number of students who share their experience and express gratitude for scholarship support – from a Marine veteran to a single mom with five kids, to a park ranger changing careers, to a first generation student now in medical school.

***Included because it further demonstrates our ability to construct whole stories from real people interviews and representative of the story, visual and technical excellence.

Building Brighter Futures Through Zero Energy: Discovery Elementary

Produced for the US Department of Energy, this is a profile of a net-zero, solar energy school in Arlington, VA.  It is designed to target school boards, school administrators, school facility managers, and parents.  This is a most recent example of the quality of our work and effectiveness of story construction; structured with the voices of the school facility manager, the architect, a school board member, teachers, and students.  We see first-hand how the net-zero concept plays out in school curriculum and we understand a bit of the how-to in design and construction.

***Included because it is specifically about solar energy and is built from the voices and activities of real people.  It is also a recent work.
